Ambassador Program

Have you ever found yourself in a room full of people that you didn’t know? You wanted to start a conversation but they all seemed to be talking to each other, because they knew each other. We can all relate to the awkwardness of such an experience. We certainly don’t want our new members to associate their first ASTD meeting with that feeling.

What if instead, you walked up to the registration table, got a nametag, and immediately someone was at your side. Not just anybody, but someone who professionally did what you currently do, or want to evolve toward. What if this person took an interest in your professional aspirations and then introduced you to people in the room who are already doing just that. Then that person sat with you at dinner and made sure you met everyone at the table.

Does this sound more appealing to you? We call it our Ambassador Program and we want you to help make it happen. When an individual signs up to come to our meetings, they can request an Ambassador for the evening. Volunteers will match them with a member who will act as host for the evening.

At each of our meetings this spring, we will make a form available so that you can indicate your interest in serving as an occasional Ambassador. We will match you with a new member of similar interests and give you the opportunity to make the evening a truly inviting professional experience.

Just for filling out the information form, you will receive $50 in bonus bucks. Then every time you serve as an Ambassador, you will receive another $50 in bonus bucks. You will also get to wear a very spiffy ribbon that identifies you as an Ambassador.
